If you like green tea or any Asian tea, you will have a great experience here at Sakura. Sakura in Kanji is written 茶倉, meaning house of tea. As the letters explain, it’s a cool space for all the tea lovers out there, and I am one of them. There are lovely cafes all over the Motomachi area, but Sakura is quite impressive in terms of how they specialize in Asian tea and just stick with it. Their interior is very Zen, and I actually felt all my worries and tiredness slowly disappear as I spent time here. I ordered the«Wagashi Set»(Japanese Sweets and your choice of tea). I got this delicious Gobo veggie wrapped with red bean paste, which tasted amazing. I was surprised that Gobo can taste this good. I chose Hojicha for my tea, which is said to have the least caffeine on the menu. It came in a big pot with a small candle under it to keep the tea warm. Very nice. Since it was during the Charming Sale, a huge annual sale at the Motomachi Shopping Street, it seemed pretty crowded at first. As the sun went down, the café’s atmosphere became calmer and I felt even more at peace. If you are looking for a good tea place in Motomachi area, give it a try.
