I give Suisui a solid 4-star rating, most of it is for the variety and selection of all-you-can-drink sake for about 30 American dollars. You get about 2 hours to drink everything you want. I think the whole time I was there I drank from 15 different brands. Suggest you go with a Japanese speaker as the menu’s aren’t in English and not many of the staff are very good at speaking English. I also recommend you eat somewhere else first. The dishes here, although quite tasty, aren’t of any substance IMHO so you’ll still be hungry after your two hours of drinking. That’s with a modest appetite like mine of course.

If you are a sake-phile, just want to sample a variety of sake while you’re in Tokyo, or just want to imbibe, you must visit Izakaya Suisui. It’s an izakaya(tavern) with an all-you-can drink sake menu. About 3,450 yen($ 29US at the time) gets you a two-hour window to sample a great spread of sake from the different regions of Japan. I highly recommend that you go with a Japanese speaker as they did not have an English or picture menu as of this review. The sake menu is organized by region, but if you can’t read Japanese, you’ll have a difficult time figuring out what to order. The food portions are quite petite here, so be prepared to order a lot of items or stop in at a noodle shop afterwards. We ordered a variety of dishes including dried Manta Ray which was tasty, although a bit chewy. We sampled from 15 different bottles of sake in our two-hour window. This amounted to about 2 sake glasses per person per bottle, so basically 30 glasses of sake for $ 29US… a great deal! Honestly I only remember about 10 of the sake labels we tried(gee I wonder why) but to my recollection, most of them were very good and many of them were available only in Japan. Afterwards, we stumbled back to Ueno Train Station, a short 10-minute walk away and got on the last train of the night to our hotel. While the food portions are small and the menu is a bit difficult to navigate for non-Japanese speakers, I simply must give this place 5-stars for the value and overall sake experience! I hope to be back on my next trip to Tokyo!
