A cup of coffee at Kappabashi coffee is an amazing treat after the long walk of Kappabashi street. The outside doesn’t look like café, but never miss this hidden gem! T What sold me on Kappabashi Coffee was their atmosphere. Great mixture of modern, stylish décor and traditional Japanese way of using woods made this café special. I believe it’s not easy to make everyone comfortable –from the elderly living in the neighborhood to tourists from various countries-, but they do it perfectly. Oh, it’s not only because their décor is great, also the staffs are super nice. When I visited there, I ordered a cup of dripped coffee and a coffee jelly. At first I was trying to start using laptop to finish my work, but after sipping coffee, I gave up and started reading a book. Nice coffee sometimes delayed my work(Please don’t feed me good coffee when I’m busy). Though they have good selection of foods as well, I have yet to try. I hope to visit Kappabashi Coffee more often, but Kappabashi is not my go-to neighborhood, so I can’t.(Which Tokyoite would come to Kappabashi so often? I really don’t know.) Note: They divide the shop into smoking area and non-smoking area. Non-smoking area might be crowded on weekends.

I had a very nice, relaxing time at this coffee shop after shopping on Kappa bashi dori in pouring rain. We got our seat in the non smoking section. It was spacious and cozy. Very nice ambiance. We ordered cake set and the crêpe was exceptionally good. English menu was available for my friend. I didn’t try their coffee this time so I’ll be back again to try their coffee. We also didn’t make it to the interior design shop upstairs so I would have to make another trip!

Kappabashi is known for its long street where food-related stores congregate. This café, «Kappabashi coffee» is located at the end of the street. FOOD: this review is for their lunch. Their Soboro don(sweet chicken and rice with sweet scrambled egg) is phenomenal. Depending on the day, the set comes with miso soup, coffee/tea(tea for +100 yen) and yogurt ice cream. Its a treat for a sweltering summer day! AMBIANCE: The café’s interior is a mixture of modern and old Japanese architecture. Ce chic! –1 star for having smoking and nonsmoking areas. The nonsmoking area was packed, yet the smoking area was practically empty. I feel like they should just make the entire café nonsmoking, and their business should thrive more. Actually, nvm, this is like the only café on the street…
