Modern and great place to stay. Mix between hotel(they provide food(very delicious by the way), towels, clean bathrooms) and hostel(shared toilet and baths). Just 1,3 km walk through Ueno Park to Ueno Station, from there you can explore Tokyo and the rest of Japan!

I stumbled across this hotel on when I was looking(last minute) for a place to stay in Tokyo. I must say, I was pleasently surprised, but was even more surprised to find that it was a hostel/hotel in one! The people who worked in the hotel were extremely nice, and their English skills were very good. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable(for Japan standards) and the room was big(for both Japanese and European standards)!. You need to take your shes off before you are allowed to go into the main part of the hotel, but they have a convenient area where you put your shoes in cubbies corresponding to your room number. This definitely wasn’t the fanciest place I have stayed in, the amenities were fairly weak(there is no WiFi in the rooms), and the toilet that we had in our room was not as high tech as some of the toilets I had in hotels in Tokyo, but for the money this hotel is well worth it. Also, the location of the hotel can’t be beat, it is within walking distance to Ueno park, and also Ueno train station. If someone was staying in Tokyo on a budget I would definitely recommend Hotel Graphy Nezu.

Believe it or not, there ARE quiet respites in the heart of Tokyo. Hotel Graphy Nezu is one. Located on a tiny street in the funky but traditional Nezu neighborhood, this hostel/hotel hybrid puts you a stone’s throw away from Tokyo’s greatest green space: Ueno Park. Be clear: this new joint is stylish and comfy, but the room are quite spartan. No bells and whistles, just comfortable bed and sheets with a few minimalistic perks. Haven’t seen the hostel rooms but the doubles are a good deal for Tokyo prices. The hotel lobby boasts a huge lounge/kitchen area and small but lively café/bar. In fact, that slash is a good theme here, everything doubles as something else. Perks are free laundry and easy walk to public transportation. Downsides are limited front desk hours and a bit of a struggle to find the first time. All in all, hip place to lay your head in the city that rocks all night.
