There are restaurants that you go to just for food, and then there are restaurants you go to for a whole experience. Densuke was definitely the latter. The owner is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet; he chatted with me throughout my time at the bar/restaurant and even helped me with figuring out directions to a place I had to be the following day in the outskirts of Tokyo. He really goes out of his way to make you feel at home. Although there are no English menus, the owner speaks English pretty well and was able to explain all the food to me without a problem. Besides, oden is the speciality here, and the way it works is you just choose from the ingredients laid out in front of you, so it’s pretty easy to navigate. I got a bowl of oden with chikuwa(fish cake), lotus flower, fried tofu, egg, and several other vegetables. The broth and toppings were tasty and perfect for the cold winter weather. I also had the omelette rice(which, contrary to what westerners might think, is actually a very popular Japanese food); the portion was large and the fried rice was great. Overall, come here if you want to get an authentic Japanese experience, chat with a really nice local, and taste some food you normally wouldn’t find in a Japanese restaurant outside of Japan.

Must go and eat ! Densuke has time-honored Japanese atmosphere. The traditional dish«Oden» was so delicious. In addition, I love the way to dish up Oden on a plate. I also enjoyed«Kobachi» appetizer that varies everyday.

I had a Japanese Sake«Urakasumi» and a plate of assorted«Oden» along with some small bowls of fine dishes at my first visit. All of them were great and impressive. I would recommend this place to whoever wants to enjoy an authentic Japanese Izakaya restaurant.
