Jonathan’s was surprisingly decent. It’s very much like a diner in the U.S., but with a Japanese twist. We went there for breakfast and enjoyed what we ordered. Their pancakes are light and fluffy, and were hot when they arrived at the table. I took a bite of my boyfriend’s, which was tasty. The maple syrup was imitation, but that’s pretty standard for syrup in the U.S. I can live with it, and actually like it. They have a yogurt and fruit bowl, so I had to order that. What a pleasant surprise when it arrived at the table. All the fruit was fresh and a nice variety of bananas, raspberries, blueberries and kiwi. The yogurt was nearly perfect. No sugar added. I was nervous about the large amount of chocolate syrup, but you know what, it was excellent. There wasn’t any sugar added. It mixed well with the yogurt and fruit and sprinkling of corn flakes. This is one of the best yogurt and fruit bowls I’ve ever had. That says something. The orange juice and coffee were just like what you’d get at any typical diner in the U.S. One difference between what you get here(in Japan) and the U.S. is serving size. The Japanese haven’t become gluttons like we here in the U.S., so their portions are much more reasonable. Not being used to this, if you’re from the U.S., you’ll first be shocked at how«small» the servings are. You just have to remember these serving sizes are reasonable. So if you’re feeling the need to have something closer to Western cuisine, definitely check out Jonathan’s. There are several throughout the Tokyo area.
