great coffee spot in Tokyo. It’s located on a small street. They roast the beans right in house, I love that. The barista was very friendly and knew how to prepare our coffee. They don’t offer milk substitutions, so I brought my own almond milk and he used that for my cappuccino. I like the interior design, it’s straight and they have outdoor seating and a few seats inside. Prices are really reasonable– compared to other places I had a look at in Tokyo. No bathroom, and no wifi though. I’d say it’s one of the better coffee places in Tokyo, since great coffee is a rare find here.

Amazing AMAZING coffee. Brewed perfectly! Tiny little coffee shop near shin-koenji station. One of the finest coffees I’ve had in a long time. I would give it five stars but the hours are weird — they don’t open until noon and the coffees are tiny with a huge price tag. I couldn’t afford to come here often but I will try because it’s wonderful

In the same way an amp allows for the expression a variety of warm, colorful, and interesting sounds, Coffee Amp in Koenji aims to create the same experience through their ‘instrument’ of choice — coffee! On the drinks side you’re looking at café lattes, café mochas, espressos, and single-origin coffees. The single-origin coffees can be ordered in a variety of styles — pour-over, aeropress, iced, iced aeropress(!!) — and they’re all prepared with great care. Where Coffee Amp really shines however, is when it comes to their beans. The range here is excellent, and you won’t find this sort of variety or quality anywhere else in Koenji. I’ve recently been enjoying the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, but I’ve heard good things about the Coffee Amp house blend, too. In-store, there are two counters with stools that seat around seven, and outside you’ll sometimes find a small table and two chair set-up. It’s a warm, intimate setting that is perfect for two, but a little uncomfortable for groups any bigger, which is just as well — the best choice is always taking your coffee on a stroll down the Koenji arcade anyway!
