Tokyo Rakkyo Brothers 東京らっきょブラザーズ is the best restaurant in Japan ever. This is my favorite restaurant and I ate here twice a week at least. The restaurant offers Sapporo style curry that even many Japanese people have not tried. The best dishes on the menus are the«pot pies» which are basically cute metal pots filled with spicy Sapporo style curry and topped with a pie crust! The curry is not the typical Japanese sweet curry but instead more like a spicy soup with vegetables, meats, and even cheese. The spiciness level of the curry ranges from 0 to 7. 0, being the«children’s» level, is not too spicy but still has a small kick. I order level 0. However, my Korean friend has claimed that level 3 was not spicy at all. You’ll have to test it to find out! The pie crust on top, probably the best part of the meal, when dipped in the curry, is perfect in taste. Each bowl of curry comes with a place of rice and two sheets of square, flat seaweed. I like to dip the rice into the curry to take the spiciness level down a bit. The restaurant offers seasonal specialties of curry and pot pies as well as monthly specialties. Additionally, they have a wide variety of ice sorbets to douse the flames of the curry, including western pear sorbet. The menus all have English translations for easy understanding. I certainly recommend this restaurant as it is so unique in Tokyo. I have yet to find this Sapporo style curry outside of Japan except when the chef of this restaurant made a special visit to Mitsuwa in San Jose. I also really recommend ordering a pot pie curry(1200 yen), however, regular bowls are also good(about 1000 yen). But trust me, the pie crust is worth every yen!
