2014 Escapade in Japan– review #5 «So many choices, so little time.» This cliché is so true when you are on a trip. Now there are cheaper sushi offerings in Tokyo. This is not a Kaiten, revolving plate restaurant but actual chefs who make the sushi as ordered. Most of the nigiri is priced at 200 yen per plate of two and they serve many other stuff like tempura, sashimi plates, chawanmushi and«pupu» offerings for beer, you know, the fish innards kind of stuff. We were fortunate to be there when they had special autumn offerings which were delicious and for an excellent price.(See my menu photos) While most servers and chefs had very limited English, they were very friendly and really made us feel at home. You could tell the neighborhood folk frequented this place as many were talking to chefs and the servers like old friends. Different ages and customer types, white collar, blue collar, retirees, families, all enjoying good food, drink and conversation. Kind of like the«Cheers» television show. While waiting for an opening on our first try, we sat outside next to a mom with her son who were waiting for a Sunday night dinner. She said this was the best sushi restaurant for the price, quality and quantity(thickness of the cut) in the area. She was right– we ended up eating there 4 times during our Tokyo stay. We had different types of nigiri sushi, we especially liked the Anago(eel). The tempura was light and crispy while being tender and tasty inside. Too many times at one restaurant? No regrets, no regrets at all. We will be making a beeline to Misaki-Sushimaru the next time we are in Tokyo. A solid 5 stars! Note: this review is for the Ningyocho location. They are located next to a McDonalds restaurant and about one block from the original Suitengu temple location now under renovation. They can be reached using the Hanzomon subway line, Suitengumae stop(Z10). I have posted a copy of their business card for reference.

This is sushi restaurant. You can eat sushi so conveniently here. There is no pressure which old sushi restaurants have, because this is chain stores. Near Takadanobaba station, there are two such sushi restaurants, but both are not easy to find… But the biggest exit of the station is nearer this, so it may be better to come here. The entrance of this store is set-backed a little and this is the main reason why it takes some time to find here. On the other hand, the entrance of the other is very easy to find, but if you are mistaken about the exit of the station, you may lose ways…
