Great scene for live music, and a great vibe, even on a Tuesday night. If you don’t speak a lot of Japanese, prepare to do some hand waving, not otherwise not too big a deal. Great way to spend a night! Place is in the basement of the building, go down a floor, turn left, then go down again!

Came here for a two-tone all nighter last time I was in Japan and it was a lot of fun. Shinjuku Loft was on the bigger side for bars I’ve seen in Tokyo, and was fairly easy to find. As with many bars, it’s located a couple floors down so look for signs pointing to the stairs.

I came here in December of 2015. This is a great live music venue. It’s not terribly expensive and the bands are fresh. Taxi drivers seem to know the place so it’s not impossible to find and its not far from the Hilton. First off, The Loft is in the basement. It’s mostly painted black with numerous flyers on the wall of past and future bands that have been there. It has a good sized stage that held a five member band the night I went. Music is number one here. The bar is in the corner — reminds me of the wedding reception type. That said, they do not push drinks on you at all. And maybe because of this, the crowd is rather polite. A great find.
