Anyone for some cheap obentos? Well, if you work near Kagurazaka, then you’ll know you need to come to Masudaya early to line up for their obentos. This one’s for you meat lovers. I’ve never been here for dinner but it’s a really popular restaurant for affordable shabu shabu and sukiyaki, I think it only costs 2,800 yen per head. Might not be really cheap but sukiyaki is never cheap, so this price is considered reasonable already. I’ve been buying the odd obento here whenever I’m up for something real meat and fried goodies. My colleague and I would come at 11:30(yes, it’s better to come early than line up at noon with the rest of the hungry office workers), we’re usually here for the croquette obento. The croquettes are always the best at the butchers. This rule has never found me having a bad croquette. And Masudaya doesn’t disappoint either. Catch them at the right time and you’ll have freshly fried, juicy and crunchy beef croquettes. You might want to try the mix obento(goes without saying, it’s a mix of everything fried), I heard it’s the no.1 most popular choice.
