Cheap, tasty, early meal. 400 yuans for 1 bowl of soba noodles with egg and tempura. It isnt the best place if you enjoy meats in your noodles. This place is operated by 2 workers and only seats up to 6 people.

400 yen gets you a bowl of soba, tempura and a half-boiled egg. Please stop by if you’re in the Shinjuku area.

As good as it gets(open late and only $ 4). The broth is addictive. The soba noodles have excellent bite. The vegetable tempura crunchy(even placed in the broth). The hot spring egg is also cooked to perfection with a yolk so golden(I’d pay $ 4 for the egg alone). This counter is a Tokyo classic, don’t miss it!

Definitely a must do for any Tourista visiting shot bar Zoetrope or any late night watering hole in the Golden Gai area of Tokyo. We found this place stumbling through a small alley way where most shops were closed at 2am on a Monday night but this place was booming. Locals wandering from all directions kept appearing at the counter anxiously ordering the same bowl of soba noodles with that tempura cake and perfectly under cooked egg. As I sat and watched this for several minutes, I went from an uncomfortable ignorance of what at first appeared to be a less than appealing spot to enjoy a late night bowl of soup to an admiration and appreciation for the process. The mam behind the counter who I could only assume was the owner, worked with efficiency and purpose as he prepared each bowl grabbing a bundle of fresh made soba noodles strung similar to fresh pasta but in wooden boxes on one end of the stall then dropping it in to a basket of water while having another bowl in the ready to warm in the same water as the noodle. Within what may have only been a few seconds, the soba is pulled out of its bath and dropped into the newly warmed bowl. Layers of scallions, a large tempura cake which appears to consist of shrimp and veggies(maybe?) right on top, then the onsen egg and that beautiful soy sauce broth poured ask over the top and presented to you steaming on a cold Tokyo night… this was absolutely the best Soba I’ve EVER had. I’m not a fan of soba, or ramen for that matter, but I’d easily come looking for this place a few times a month — especially in the fall and winter months — if I ever decided to relocate to the land of the rising sun! 2015 Tokyo Must!!!

We came here after a night of drinking in Golden Gai… so I hope it was a delicious as I thought it was… haha! I had been to the area a weekday at like 11pm and it was hopping!!! So when I was craving yakitori at 2am on a Saturday night, I was shocked to find this entire area dead! This was actually the only place open. So we took a seat next to some locals and indulged. We ordered the soba noodles. The noodles were chewy, cooked perfectly in my book, and the broth salty. He tops the soup with a large seafood and veggie tempura. So good. Took the craving I had for yakitori away in a heartbeat. Like many hole-in-the-wall places in Tokyo. Delicious.

Dis some of dat delish dish. Soba noodles smooth as a baby or rice noodles bouncy like your mom. Rich soup and fragrant aroma of the vegetable tempura makes this place great. Eat here, I did it for breakfast. Makes you sweat tho
