exploring Tokyo, my buddies and i came across this restaurant. just outside of the station, it is a building you really cannot miss… check out that front! admittedly, we were attracted to this restaurant simply by sight! and the inside looks just as cool… the puzzle piece motif continues in the interior. the building itself looks very tall, and this is b/c the entire restaurant is 9 floors. the first floor are 2 seaters only, but the neat part is, if you get to sit down there, you literally sit in giant empty barrels O_O we went up to the 2nd floor, where they had shoji screen partitioned, private tables for 3 or more people.(higher floors are for larger event type reservations i believe). they have both english and japanese menus, and lots of pictures to make ordering easy. we got(in english): — whitebait pizza — bacon fishcake — pig ear in vinegar — yakitori meatballs — yakisoba(fried noodles) — grilled squid — whole fried shrimp everything was delicious! the whitebait pizza is not your standard pizza. instead of marinara sauce, it was topped instead with nori paste(like tsukudani), sliced scallions, cheese, and«whitebait» fish(very, very tiny fry fish). the bacon fishcake was a standard fishcake, but filled with large slices of bacon! the pig ear in vinegar was very tasty, but you also have to like pig ear to like this dish… the meatballs were tasty, and just kind of ok. you have to buy them per piece. yakisoba was very good. noodles were chewy in the good way, and flavor was excellent. grilled squid was standard if you’ve had grilled squid before. and the fried shrimp were nice and crisp, so much that you could eat them whole, head to tail. i hope to come back to JPN and visit this restaurant again!
