Tokyo beer crawl #1 Hot, tired and thirsty after a long trip from LA I ventured on foot from my hotel. As I was crossing the vast train station a young lady(Kumi) tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I spoke Engrish. «Sure do» I replied she asked me if I would mind speaking with her as she was practicing her«Engrish» for work. Shure why not I said and I asked her if there were any close pubs where I could get a cold beer. She told me that there were several on the other side of the train station and that she was going to be meeting some friends at one in an hour. We walked and talked and in a few blocks came upon the 82 Ale House. She told me that this was not her favorite but that there were a lot of x-pats and English speakers. Ok whatever«do they have cold beer» I asked? We entered the small bar and I soon had a pint of Guinness in my hand. YEA! A bit spendy at around $ 10US but who cares when your on Va-Ca. Clean place and well stocked. Even had HH specials. She was right the bar was mostly English speaking(or trying to) although the crowd seemed clickish and didn’t speak with strangers much. Maybe it was me? Nah. Kumi over-apologized in the typical Japanese way. Who cares I told her as I ordered my 2nd. She told me all about her work with an exporting co and bored me to tears. I asked if there were any livelier places around? She said yea that she was going to meet friends at one in a few min. and that I could come. Cool as I chugged #2 lets go… To be continued
