1300 yen for adults for an aquarium in Tokyo is a steal. It is near a nice little park. They had a dolphin show, sea lion show, and a touching pool. It is really kid friendly and a great little place to head to with the family. It is a little walk from the station but it is all side walk and safe. I think my favorite think was the sea lion habitat you walk through and sea them swimming all around you.

My kids love aquariums, especially Shinagawa Aquarium! Shinagawa Aquarium is different from the other aquarium next to Shinagawa station called Epson aqua stadium, which is with fancy attractions like carousel, an indoor small aquarium, but very nice too. This public Shinagawa Aquarium is apparently cheaper, local, and with a nice park beside the aquarium building for the kids to run around. Actually my kids love both aquariums, and it’s always a quality family activity to spend some afternoons here, educational and entertaining. Don’t miss the long undersea tunnel tank where you can enjoy 180 degree views of the tank! My kids can stay at the tunnel forever, feeling they are part of the ocean. Also check out the Tokyo bay tank, exclusive in Shinagawa aquarium only, explains all the land and sea creatures of Tokyo bay. My kids love it. Do check the dolphin show and seal show time before your visit. Great shows with great explanation in Japanese, and you get to be very close to the dolphins and seals here! Parking available but it’s across the street. Also bring some snack or grab a easy lunch to relax in the outdoor area, enjoy your ‘fishful’ day!

If you love fish and if you do not, this aquarium is awesome! This is very close to Shinagawa station and there are free buses from Shinagawa and Omori station so that you can easily get there. The admission fee is a little bit expensive but you can see tans of beautiful and cool fish. Some of them are funny and strange and you may like it. This place is good especially for family with little kids and also couples. There are some shows and events each day so please check them when you get the pamphlet and do not miss them. One of the good things is that you can enjoy if the weather is terrible and no place to go. There are lots of places to look at, so please be sure that you have plenty of time. If you are busy, please try to see all of them because it is the way pity if you did not see any of them.
