Good vegan options, not super flavorful but ok overall quality. Service was indifferent(we visited for early lunch on a weekday, the server seemed more interested in his phone and talking to the chef) and the portions were pretty small for the prices. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again.

This cosy little vegan resturant away from the hustle and bustle of the main Shibuya shopping district was a real diamond. There were 2 female staff on, both were friendly and helpful and spoke good english. They were so lovely and welcoming, and patient with my limited Japanese, confirming with me in English so I knew I had said the right things. Being a vegan foreigner in Japan is proving to be a little tough, so I ordered a lot of food tonight at Nagi to make up for not eating much during the day. I had miso soup with tofu, brown rice, salad, fried soy meat, and 3 little bowls of pickled vegetables and a delicious plummy paste that was wonderful with the lightly salted rice. I also had some yummy cake, fresh made ginger ale, and a plum sake on the rocks. All up cost me ¥2900 which was $ 34AUD. I’m going to try and visit here again before I leave Tokyo, and will definitely come back next time I’m in Japan.

I appreciate that this place is available because it truly is vegan. Soy meat and everything. One of us four seemed to like some of the dishes better than other places we’ve been but the other 3 of us didn’t really enjoy it too much. There aren’t any noodles available. Just rice, side salad, and the entrée. I think everything is pre prepared and they just warm it up. The food comes out fairly fast and there’s one girl in the front helping guests and one on the back warming up food. I think the best thing we ordered was the«prum sake». :) I would recommend this place to vegetarians but I probably won’t come back again this trip. The girls are sweet there though. I would give the girls a 5 for service.

Looking for a vegan place so my vegan daughter’s would have more options than what we have eaten so far in Tokyo. OK, the place does not look like much but the food… very tasty and I’m not even vegan. Look past the humble exterior and enjoy the nice folks and great food.

This place is awesome. We ate here on our first day and our last day of our two week trip to Japan. Nagi Shokudo is caddy corner from the post office and down a couple steps. You can either sit up on a platform on cushions or at Western tables and chairs. On our second visit they were playing the Holy Modal Rounders on the stereo! And I noticed they had a Bill Callahan CD lying around. But the main thing is that the food is fantastic, you get a big set meal with a bunch of different wonderful tastes, for a really good price, and it’s vegan! I got the Nagi Lunch Plate which is 1250Y(around $ 10.28US) which comes with your choice of 3 dishes, plus brown rice, miso soup, pickles, and tea. I can’t remember exactly what I had for my three dishes each time because it’s been a few months but I do remember loving the fried tofu with mushroom soaked in tomato coconut soup, the deep fried soy meat, and the turnip marinade. Everthing I had there was absolutely delicious! I really hope to return here some day.

This vegan joint is hard to find but the food is very tasty and freshly prepared. The side dishes are very flavorful and creative. They also offer two or three different meal combinations with brown rice and miso soup with appealing and delicious dishes. Service is very attentive.

Vegan food represent in Tokyo! So much yummy food in this little shop, full of character. Waiters are very nice and patient(with my broken Japanese). As for food, the sets are quite filling. The fried«chicken» is tasty, as is the okra side dish. The rice has great texture. This place is a gem! Highly recommend for vegans and non-vegans alike.

It is a hidden gem right outside of Shibuya station. They have menu written both in English and Japanese. They set-menus(daily sets) are all very good and quite reasonably priced. In Japan, many do not understand what vegetarian really mean — many soup broths have fish etc. This place is truly vegan. It is tasty, economical, convenient location. Cozy little place, good humble service. My vegetarian friend was really happy that I found this place!

The food here is as delish as the ambiance is cozy. There’s no denying it’s anything but easy to be vegan in a fish-centric country like Japan, but the food, not to mention the humble chef, at Nagi Shokudo is an inspired taste of what you’re missing at nearby, more traditional Japanese restaurants. The location may be nondescript, the seating may be limited, but a visit is well worth it for any vegan looking for a taste of heritage food in Tokyo.

I’ve only been once, but it’s a great vegan restaurant and so welcoming! There’s English speaking staff and menu readings for those visiting, however, my favorite part of this outing was that our waiter allowed us to use our limited Japanese and practice. It was actually a very nice, warm dining experience, compared to other places I’ve been to here! It was a small shop, very homey. Most of the guests sat around chatting for a while after they ate, the staff asked how the food was, offered suggestions and so on. It was very sweet. Now, on to the food! We each had the daily special– a set of fried soy meat, miso, brown rice, and a dish of 3 appetizers. There were 2 other daily options as well– one was a curry set. The thing I love about this place is that unlike most vegan restaurants here, you still feel like you’re eating a Japanese meal, without it being a traditional shojin-style, vegetarian meal. I love that they offer soy meat! And the sauce on them was very good. They also offer many single items, though the sets are definitely a better deal at about 1000 yen. Overall, everything we ate was wonderful, as was the staff, and I can’t wait to return!
