There are many things about Tokyo that’ll make you think you never left New York at all. Namely the absurd number of New York businesses that have a footprint in the city. That said, While there isn’t a Mr. Farmer in Manhattan, they’ve fully embraced the cold pressed juice movement that’s white hot halfway around the globe. They channel the farm to table movement that’s been huge in the US for at least the last 5 – 7 years. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and cold pressed juice are located right at the front for grab-and-go convenience, or you can have a seat in the more fleshed out café for a wider selection of healthy eats. Either way, the food they offer is a nice respite from the heavily breaded and carbohydrate rich options like tonkatsu and noodles that tempt you around every corner. That’s not to say you shouldn’t eat those items, I did and you definitely should as well. But it’s nice to give your body a break from the onslaught of decadent fare at a place like Mr. Farmer.

If you’re around Omotesando and put off by all the restaurants with Japanese menus and no vegetarian options, go here. Hip hop and modern music being played, comfy seats and fast service. And this home made ginger ale is definitely making me want to stay longer!

Mr. Farmer serves up healthy Americanized options in a comfortable setting with hipster décor. The salads here really satisfy the salad cravings that creep up on me with increasing frequency the longer I stay in Tokyo. The ingredients are fresh. The soups are good but not as good as the salads. I also enjoy the eggslut, which I believe originated at the eponymous Eggslut restaurant in LA. The eggslut is a coddled egg mixed with truffled whipped potatoes in a mason jar. It is served with some bread, chips, bacon, and grilled vegetables on the side here.
