Want to practice«Zen» in Tokyo? You should visit here. I believe this is the easiest place to try Zazen in Tokyo. Every weekday, they are open for Zazen Training from 7am to 8am. Anyone can stop by and do Zazen, before going to work or school or. anything. Even though Kourin-in is located close to the station, the neighborhood is quiet and surrounded by woods. During Zazen training, you must not talk or move. One session takes 25 min, and after 5 min rest, second session starts. Comfort clothing are recommended. If you wear skinny denim and sit quietly for 25 min… it would be awful: P There’s no guidance or direction. People just come, do Zazen training, and go. That’s it. When I came here as a guide of a foreign tourist, most of attendees looked like people living in the neighborhood. Foreigners are welcomed, but they don’t have English instruction. Best to come with Japanese friends. Cost: FREE(Yay!) Location: 5 min walk from Hiroo station
