Conveniently located in Shibuya, 3 mins from the train station/famous Shibuya crossing. There’s 2 locations: one in a small alleyway off the main road(only open for dinner), and one in an elevator building on the main road(open for lunch and dinner). I came for lunch and after getting off the elevator, though no signs were in English, the line made it obvious which restaurant was Hanno Daidokoro. At 12:30pm, my party of 2 waited for around 20 mins, which I thought was pretty quick given that there were 8 – 10 people in front of us. When they called us in, we had to take off our shoes and put it in a little baggie — so Japanese! We were seated near the back and handed an English menu. The options ranged from the cheaper cuts(1000Yen/$ 9) to the premium wagyu Yamagata set(2500Yen/$ 24). Coming for weekday lunch is SUCH a good deal because: — unlimited salad bar which includes seafood pancake, veggies, potato salad, cucumbers, broccoli, etc — unlimited DRINKS bar which includes various tea, calpico like drink!, coffee, raspberry tea(or something) — very good options those wanting to try premium Japanese meats on a budget. We tried the 2500Y set which included 3 different cuts and 2 slices each. The meats were delicious, fatty, and had a very strong beefy flavor(I guess that’s what wagyu is. it was my first time!). Had a choice of salt & pepper or soy sauce flavored meats. We went with the salt & pepper since it was the«ichiban», or #1 most popular, choice. They provided a delicious shoyu-type dipping sauce as well. There were some English speaking staff to help you out and they had some good diagrams to explain what part of the cow the different cuts came from. Service was very good! We ate for quite a bit, with around 5 trips to the salad and drinks bar(first unlimited experience in Japan, so I had to try everything!), and nobody kicked us out! Oh, OMG and the bathrooms are stocked with goodies like OILBLOTTINGPAPER(!!!), pads, mouthwash… it’s a small gesture but one that really sold me on the quality of the restaurant and its hospitality. Good value, high quality, cozy/modern Japanese atmosphere. One of the top 3 places I’d recommend in Tokyo.

OMG! This place is AMAZING! Location: Just as almost all places in Shibuya, places are easiest accessed by walking. This is located in an alley and can be easily missed. However, if you keep your eye out, there are huge slabs of meat in the window, which is easily noticeable if you’re looking for it. Service: Service was great. Our waitresses spoke very little English, but enough to be able to order and get by. They got our order right and told us some recommendations, so that was great and helpful! Our waitress knew it was our first time so she told us some important things like use the tongs that were hanging on the side, don’t overcook the meat, and use the black folded napkin-looking thing as an apron. Food: We ordered the preset meal for $ 4400 yen, which is ~$ 37USD and it came with 5 slabs of Kobe Beef, your choice of salad(salty lettuce, Korean lettuce, Tomato salad, Coriander salad), cucumber kimchi and beef sashimi as an appetizer, your choice of drink(non-alcoholic/alcoholic beverages included), and a bowl of rice. This was THE best beef I have ever had. I cooked my meat to medium-rare and it was delicious. The meat literally melted in my mouth. Each slice was a different cut of Kobe beef and they were each very good. Overall: I will DEFINITELY be back here again. The meat was so delicious. I“m so glad we tried this place and I can say that I have tried Kobe Beef! Yay!

My second time back in Tokyo with my boyfriend and we were looking for a good yakiniku place in Shibuya. Our go to yakiniku is called Jojoen(considered #1 yakiniku in Tokyo) it was our favorite yakiniku place from all the other places we tried when we went together the first time. Let me just say… it was DELICIOUS! This place deserves more then a 5 star! We tried all their«popular item» and we loved everything! From the small side dishes to the meat. Meat quality is unbelievably tender and soft(of course it’s Japanese meat!) nothing can beat Japan meat. I loved their gyu-tan it comes with ALOT of green onions with it for all you green onion lovers :) It’s always busy so I recommend making a reservation unless you get lucky. It’s a small place but we got lucky and got a kinda private room so no one can really see us pigging out hehe. I highly recommend this place! You won’t regret it!

This place is on the 4th floor and is not really recognizable from the street. Take the elevator up and you will be in beef heaven. It is a very lively atmosphere which is great. You take your shoes off and sit at traditional tables. Select from really quality beef that will melt in your mouth and cook it yourself in front of you. Took my two younger kids(6 and 8) and wife and everyone had an amazing time. The kids especially loved it. Great experience and find right in Shibuya. Would highly recommend if you are in the mood for steak.
