The appropriately named Hangout is a great casual place to meet up with some folks, eat tasty vegan food, and just have a good time. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed: rustic furniture, eclectic artwork, and a weird but totally awesome movie projected onto one of the walls. Owners/staff are super friendly and passionate about their business and what they do — you can seriously feel the love in this place. As to the food itself, expect a mix of comfort(french fries, gyoza) and lighter options(spring rolls, salads). The menu has pictures, so no guesswork involved in the ordering. Credit cards are accepted over a certain amount(~$ 20USD). Looking forward to dining here again the next time I am in Tokyo.

The rainbow salad is so delicious, and I love the sesame dressing. The Jamaican Jerk sandwich is good. The gyoza appetizer is good, and comes with different dipping sauces. The Bloody Mary is delicious, but it wasn’t garnished. I like that you can order a Bloody Mary at night because I feel like a lot of SF bars only let you order them in the morning. I tried to order a White Russian(since being vegan, I normally can’t get them out), but they couldn’t make them, so I think the bar menu is limited. The menus are in English, which is super helpful, and not only that, but there are also photos of the dishes so you know what to expect. The servers all speak excellent English, making this the perfect place to come if you don’t know any Japanese. There’s also a cute outdoor area to sit, but it’s only big enough for 4 people.
