It’s the only place you can get legit bubble tea for miles. Since I walked pretty far to get here, I decided to make it a meal and get a noodle soup. I got the five spices noodle soup and I was satisfied. My only qualm is that I think they put in some msg in that soup… sooooo bad for you! Tasty nonetheless!

A rare bubble tea sighting in Japan! I went a bit out of my way to come here but it was well worth it. This Taiwanese chain delivers some fantastic milk tea — perfectly cold and frothy. The boba was too soft but it didn’t matter since the tea was so great. Strong wifi and plenty of seating.

I know, I know… bubble tea is from Taiwan and it’s not big in Japan. If I hear that one more time from a Tokyoite when I ask a for a recommendation, I just might bubble their tea. Yet on a late evening when my craving was at its height, I found out this famous Taiwan outlet had just opened its doors in Daikanyama and has been taking the neighborhood by storm, bubble by bubble. When I say«famous Taiwan outlet,» you should know that this is the Starbucks of bubble tea, and arguably the inventors of the stuff. Sure it’s a chain, but if you’re looking for the real deal, you can’t get much realer than this. Thankfully, you won’t find any of those day-glo, toxic-sludge-looking syrups here. What you will find is a large array of teas, high-quality natural ingredients, tightly controlled product quality, and an impressively trained staff. My jasmine milk tea with tapioca pearls was exactly what I needed. In fact, I think I need another right now.
