35 Steps Bistro takes it name from there being 35 steps down to the restaurant. I would never have found the place if I would not have had it marked on google maps and even then it was a bit tricky as there was not really any clear signs outside but after walking down the stairs we eventually found it. They are very popular so reservations are recommended as there may otherwise be a long wait(if there is even a chance of a seat). They are an izakaya but with some intersting take on some of the dishes. I would not say the food is stellar but it is very good. The dishes are bot standard izakaya dishes but usually a bit of twist on a normal dish. While nothing was bad a few dishes were average and a few were excellent but the prices are a hit higher than at an average Izakaya so would have expected a bit more. Beer selection was pretty limited but they stock a nice range of sake and whiskey as well as some carefully selected wines. Actually most of the beverage selection seems to get more attention and love than than the beer selection which is a bit strange as most come to an Izakaya to drink beer(and eat). The service was fast and efficient which is good. The atmosphere in the place was in genera upbeat and cheerful and people really seemed to enjoy themselves. What is a bit of a drawback is the smoking, many smoke indoors here and it is not very pleasant.
