Hikoichi is not a place that you will find easily. I had trouble finding the place myself, so when I asked a local here, she told me that you need to look for a yakiniku place called«Bari Bari.» Hikoichi is located in the same corridor, so you turn into there, walk a little bit, and you’ll find it on the left. Hikoichi is a very traditional place — complete with a very Japanese menu and a nice little bamboo garden inside. Note that because the menu is completely in Japanese(no photos, even!) you will need to bring a friend or you can learn some Japanese(see below). You can choose from hot or cold teas, parfaits and other desserts like«anmitsu.» But since you’re here, you might as well get one of their amazing parfaits, which are stacked tall with ice cream, fruits, whipped cream and Japanese gelatin. Now, if you’re visiting Japan and have no idea how to read Japanese, here’s my advice — After a waitress comes by asking for your order, all you need to say is this: «_______parfait(pa-feh) hitotsu onegaishimasu.» Then fill the blank in with one of the following: –Choco Banana(cho-ko ba-nah-nah) –Matcha /Green Tea(ma-cha) –Sakura /Cherry Blossom(sah-koo-lah) The parfaits are SO good here. And presented so beautifully. If you’re looking for a very Japanese dessert experience, I highly, highly recommend Hikoichi.
