This place came up as a top bar on Unilocal. So I thought should check it out as it happened to be 5 mins walk from my hotel. First thing to note is yes, it is above a shop selling a wide variety of Scandinavian type souvenirs, stationary and an eclectic mix of other stuff. I think the bar is owned by the same company as the scandy feel continues right into it. The bar seemed to be themed as a Copenhagen bar, but it felt more like a bar/youth club in some ways as it had more than one table tennis table and lots of other board games littered about the place. The lighting was also very bright, but in a strange way I quite liked the place. We had a hot dog and beer, both of which were good and then left shortly after. Worth a look, but don’t expect a bar as you know it normally. Think more ikea canteen.

This place is simply wonderful for family and people that are young at heart! Spilbar is on the 3rd floor at the top of the ‘Flying Tiger Copenhagen’. A café from Copenhagen? You think this place is just as cool as any other Scandinavian-influenced cafes which you visited in Japan? Yes, it is a dandy café in central Kyoto and simultaneously has great entertainment facilities. The atmosphere of the café is excellent, wonderful & fun. It’s a refreshing place to be in because of the ambience. They have an area where friends can play table tennis and many different kinds of board games. Everyone in Spilbar can play games without getting a cup of coffee! (You can get a bottle of Tiger beer for yourself if you want.) So you can enjoy by yourself or with buddies at this place. Basically, you can do whatever you want! If you’re lucky, you can work at the café because the place comes with free wifi!
