Reported to be the oldest knife shop in Kyoto, this business does not disappoint. I visited this shop with my husband in August, 2015 on a search for handmade Kyoto cooking knives. The proprietor was very nice and speaks enough English to explain the different knives and how to sharpen them. The prices are better than the stores on the main shopping arcade and the quality of the work is outstanding. After much deliberation, we bought a knife which was engraved for free and wrapped perfectly for shipping back to the USA(which you can do at the main Kyoto Post office by train station). When we left the owner was very thankful, and we were happy with both our experience and our new knife!
