I love Mos Burger! Man… I looked all over Tokyo for Mos Burger, only to find one(feasible) location in Ginza that we ended up not visiting. But turns out, there is one in Kyoto(another place I was visiting!) So we decided to go for dinner, and shared two burgers between three people since we ate a lot during the entire day/week. We got the seafood burger and the salmon one, and both were yumz *_* The seafood one tasted especially savory, with edamame and various tempura things. The salmon one was just a salmon patty(similar to a burger patty, with like ground beef but like… broken salmon lol. The rice bun is the best part though. It’s like rice. but a bun. Or a bun. but RICE! Ok idk I guess it might not be that awesome for you if you don’t like rice. But if you do… please try this place!

MOS Burger is a Japanese fast food chain with hundreds of stores all over East Asia, and even in Australia. However, to a lamer American like me, it is something totally awesome, new, different. The chain is named after their first signature burger, served in 1972, called the MOS Burger. MOS is said to mean«Mountain Ocean Sun.» Now, there are so many burgers to choose from that your head will spin with options. The colorful picture menu can make it even harder to choose. To be completely honest, when I went to MOS, I ordered two things because I could not make up my mind. Just like any other fast food burger chain, you can make it a combo. However, things in Japan are a little fancier. Ordering a Green Melon Soda, or any other soda for that matter? It is served in a glass! Yep, that clinkity-clankity liquid-holding vessel that breaks when you drop it. Something I have never seen at a fast food burger chain in my lifetime. You can add fries, or you can add fries and onion rings as one side together. At MOS, the burger meat is sweet. I have also been told that the meat may or may not be a mix of pork and beef together. Corn is very popular, so I ordered the limited time Corn Burger, which is; a regular MOS burger patty, a deep fried corn fritter on top in the same shape and size of the burger, special sauce, and lettuce. It was good! The corn fritter really made it taste unique. The corn sticker from the wrapper is still on my cell phone case until this very day. To top it all off, I ordered a cup of creamy corn soup. It was excellent like everything else. Served in a porcelain cup with a MOS logo stainless steel oddly shaped, but effective, spoon. The Ebi Burger, is now a classic item at MOS. It is small sized shrimp, barely cut, and pressed into a patty. Then, it is rolled in breadcrumbs and fried. It kind of freaked me out that most of the shrimp inside were still whole, which also made the texture a little different. The sauce was kind of bland as well, which did not help. I have had better shrimp patty burgers at some of the Korean owned fast food burger chains, because the sauces are more flavorful and the patty crunchier. Texture people! If you are in Asia and see a MOS burger, I definitely recommend checking it out. Even if it is just for a quick snack, or even just to pop your head in and take a peek at the cray cray menu for educational purposes. The prices are cheap, the quality of the food is excellent for the price, just like many places in Japan. You will find that the portion size is smaller, but that is definitely not a bad thing.
