A very foodie experience. Savored every morsel! To celebrate our anniversary, my husband surprised me with dinner reservations @LaLocanda, the Italian restaurant in our hotel. The décor was gorgeous, ambiance refined, and food absolutely delicious. One entertaining aspect was watching the pastry chef against the wall backdrop of macarons by Pierre Herme. :) The restaurant offers 3 set menus, but we opted to build our own and share. The chef split our dishes on individual plates in the kitchen before serving us. Yay! And the waiter explained every dish in detail as he served us. Double Yay! I wish I could remember it all… Here’s what we ordered… and savored… ~ to sip: a Chianti Classico — which the restaurant upgraded since they were out of the bottle we ordered(fabulous) ~ amuse bouche on the house: something amazing wrapped in pork belly served with a smidge of dijon mustard — who doesn’t love anything wrapped in bacon?(bonus!) ~ to start: buffalo mozzarella, braised tomato and basil gelato — the basil had an interesting angel food cake texture(ha!) ~ for primi: homemade pappardelle with seafood — I think it was lobster(delicious) ~ for secondi: Japanese beef sirloin AND Japanese short ribs — omg, this was so juicy(double delicious) ~ for dessert: Pierre Herme macarons of course — rose, pistachio, caramel, and the house special with sesame(more please) Special dinner, special date, special experience. Thanks La Locanda!
