If you want to buy traditional Japanese paper called«washi» products, this is pretty good shop in Teramachi St. They have many paper products such as postcards, notebook, letterset and stationary mainly the brushes for calligraphy. They also have nice incenses. Just be careful that this store is closed on Sunday.

The head shop is a little aloof from the Sanjo street. Just aloof… I am always hanging about Shijo, Sanjo, Gion area, but the northward from Sanjo I seldom walk around. Therefore I came a few times and bought a simple gift envelop without Mizuhiki, or decorative Japanese cord made from twisted paper here. The quality of paper is superior to other papers sold in ordinary stationary shops or super markets. When I give someone a monetary gift, I would like to be particular about the wrapping envelop, too. Tiny fragrance bags are famous in this shop. This is because this shop started its business as a pharmacy. I was attracted by its tasteful designs of letters, postcards and envelops. However all of them are so pricy that I hesitate to buy some. Instead of them I bought an incense bag to slip into the letter(as for letter it is not the product here). The person who received my letter and incense bag was so surprised and deeply moved. Who did I sent to? It’s a secret!
