Followed the crowd to this cream puff stand. It was good but not great. The pastry wasn’t flaky or crispy but the cream had a nice matcha flavor and was light.

Highly recommended for a quick snack stop en route to or from Kiyomizu Temple! Kyoto is famous for its sweets, and this shop is a great example of it. The shop’s signature item is the matcha cream puff, which was absolutely delicious! Not only was the puff itself matcha, the yummy cream was even more matcha. Especially if you love Japanese green tea, you cannot miss this! The only flaw is that a puff costs 300 Yen in cash. If it were any cheaper though, I think I would definitely get more than one!

Cream puffs filled with matcha(green tea), chestnut, or original custard for just ¥300. Tried both the matcha and the chestnut for a quick lunch on the go and the matcha won hands down. You can’t miss this place on the way down from Kiyomizudera, either for the huge cream puff sign or for the crowds hovering around the heat lamp. Seating fits about 30 on communal benches and counters.
