Solid. This is a specialty coffee shop located right under the busy portion of Shijo. They are a café, and also sell beans. Beans are found to order. I stopped by around 4:30pm on a random Thursday. Although the prices gave me some doubt, this has been on my to-do for a while so I decided to go for it. Most of the ~50 seats were empty so I chose to sit in the annex at a table. They also have bar seating and counter seating. I had read somewhere that this was a good place to read, and they weren’t wrong. there was light jazz playing, and the overall lighting is dim, but certain seats are more well lit than others. Menus are already on the tables so the waiter brought me water and asked that I buzz the button on the table when I want to order. oh. English menus available, btw. I went with a ブレンド赤(red blend?) which is balanced but has a fuller mouthfeel than the 白(white). I also got an Almond Toast. Normally I wouldn’t but I was hungry and needed a snack, plus they make their own almond paste. The chewy thick cut toast with homemade almond paste(like marzipan but not as sweet), hit the spot. Sometimes the most satisfying things are the most simple. By the way, the Almond Toast came with a little shot glass of grape juice, to cleanse the palate. Unexpected, but cute. Even though it is on the expensive side, it is a very well thought out coffee shop, IMO. The coffee menu is broken down into categories based on taste profile, which makes it easier for me, or anyone who wants an initial adjective to go with their order ^^ Also, next time I need to sit somewhere comfortable for a while I’ll come here… apparently drink refills are 300¥ off the original price. Would definitely recommend anyone who wants to leisurely drink a cup of coffee to come here.
