Maybe I had expectations that were too high. They have great Instagram presence, but the owner is not so friendly. I showed up mid afternoon on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. The space is cute and desserts are displayed in a glass case at the front. It was quite chilly inside as it’s a wooden machiya building and not weather proof. I ordered the Chocolate Mint tart because I haven’t had anything mint chocolate in SUCH a long time. Disappointment. Presentation was clean and beautiful but the texture really took me aback. The top mousse/gelatin-y textured mint layer reminded me of a foam roller, and the chocolate cake layer was also too light in flavor and mouth feel. The tart crust itself was thin and did not lend itself to the tart. All in all, I would like to have seen texture variation, as well as actual taste. The blend coffee however, was pretty good. Pretty delicious. What was not good, was the owner’s attitude. He came over twice to. I don’t know. Clear my table and ask if I wanted anything else, but there was no polite smile and came across as «Would you like anything else(if not please leave)», and still no smiles when I asked for hot water to sip on. And gave me a weird look when I asked for a receipt. Due to everyone’s stellar reviews I’d probably come back on a warmer day just to try their real food, like lunch plates or curry, since that looks pretty awesome. I’d go elsewhere for the desserts though.
