4.5 rounded up. I was pretty excited to find authentic-ish Taiwanese food in Kyoto ^_^. Even though the owner is Japanese the taste is like what you’d find in Taiwan, and the atmosphere and décor is pretty unique. Some of the staff speak Mandarin also. My friend and I got the 滷肉飯, 燒肉飯,皮蛋豆腐,沙茶羊肉 and a 珍珠奶茶。 ID been craving pmt for a while but the pearls were a disappointment. Thus the -.5. In my opinion, if you don’t have good pearls, don’t put them out. That being said, everything else was pretty awesome. I think it’s really cool they put the thousand year egg and tofu on the menu because it’s very unique to Taiwan the sauce on top is a tinge of spice with crunchy shrimp bits. Both rice dishes(並 portion is a good individual portion of you don’t order too many side dishes. The large you can probably split unless you’re a rice hoarder haha) were yummy and the lamb was great! Bit of heat, but easily manageable. I’m glad this restaurant is really putting out Taiwanese flavors and I’m excited to go back to try other menu items. :) you know it’s good… Because I totally forgot to take pictures and dove right in ^^; whoops. Next time!
