Karahashi

This is an old name but now is a modern bridge across the Seta river from Biwako lake.
Almost 1400 years ago, the bridge was the important point to protect the capital, Ohtsu.
The war called Jinshin-​no-​ran.
And 830 years ago, Minamoto Yoshitsune and Kiso Yoshinaka had war around this bridge.
It was said that if the man hold this bridge, he can hold the Capital city Kyoto.
Now there is really peaceful scene around here.
古代から有名な橋ですが、今はもちろん架け替えられて新しい橋になっています。
壬申の乱では、大津京を守る大友天皇側と大海人皇子側とで争奪戦となり、また源義経、木曽義仲が戦ったところでもあります。
古来よりこの橋を制することで京を守ることができると言われている重要拠点です。
今はのどかな風景が広がっています。
