Tipness Umeda is a fully functional gym with a decent amount of machines and equipment. Other than that, there is nothing special at all with this gym. It does get very busy around 18 – 20, but is still manageable. The equipment is fine. They offer various cardio machines such as cross trainers, sitting cycles and plenty of treadmills. They’ve got 2TRX racks, a stretching area and a free weight section. So whatever your goal at the gym is, you can accomplish it here. Probably. Or, maybe. The equipment is very basic and if you are competing or dead serious I recommend Gold’s instead. They offer many various classes, and got 2 studios and a spinning area. They also have a swimming pool and jacuzzi one floor up. Unlike Tipness Kyobashi they do not have a bath in the mens locker room. For the normal Japanese gym goer, this is a very satisfactory gym. However I’ve been to many good gyms in different countries and I am far from impressed. I also really find the strict and random rules here to be quite strange. E. g, not allowed to use cell phones anywhere at the gym(photos, text messaging etc), has to wear swimming cap when swimming, women are not allowed to wear bikini in the jacuzzi, one is not allowed to hang in the TRX rack unless if it is in the TRX bands because it is «dangerous» and much more. Furthermore, I have had problems with the lockers(you use a code and key), where the code has changed on its own and I’m standing there naked not being able to open up my locker. This happened three times in two months, but maybe I am just unlucky. Still, it s better to work out here than not working out at all. Though if you want to train at a Tipness, I recommend Tipness Kyobashi instead, which is a nice gym and much better atmosphere and staff.
