Easily my favorite pizza in Osaka and Kansai at large. Friendly staff, fantastic food and drink menu, can’t ask for more than that. A must-experience for a night out in Osaka!

Found this place through Shuhei’s event via Meetup. One slice of pizza is 500yen and it’s a good size too BUT somehow I find the taste bland. I can easily finish a whole box of Pizza on my own but somehow I had a hard time finishing the two slices that I had. Maybe I was just being picky and had great expectation of the place. I might go back if I’m in the area.

Best pizza in Kansai by far. Combined with a solid line up of top shelf craft beers makes Slices a clear winner for a night out in Osaka city. Not to mention the killer dessert menu. Easy to find and the staff just rock.

The pizza in Japan can leave MUCH to be desired. SLICES to the rescue. By the slice, whole pizzas, wraps, salads, shakes and drinks… they get it right. Lunchtime or dinner… they get it right. Bottom line… you want delicious, REAL pizza in Osaka… SLICES is the spot.

My girlfriend and I just randomly discovered the place while walking in Dotomburi. The canadian flag is what got us in, the menu, staff and nice ambiance kept us in the place for a few hours !! Staff was very nice and we had a very good time there. Being from Quebec, we had to try the poutine and really, it was well worth it. We both agreed this poutine could fit on any restaurant at home, by far the best poutine I’ve had outside of Canada! Overall this place was a nice discovery, we would for sure be regular customers if we’d be living in Osaka !!

Wandering the Dontonburi area I saw a Canadian flag and had to inspect further. When I saw poutine on the menu, I knew I was going in. The selection was admirable– pizza poutine, nachos poutine, chicken peppercorn poutine, BBQ poutine, jalapeño & bacon poutine, and original poutine. I’ve had enough bad poutines to be wary of trying anything too far outside the box at a new spot so kept my order fairly safe and went for the jalapeño & bacon poutine(¥600). Staff were more than friendly, and the poutine was delicious. They used mozzarella instead of cheese curds, a common substitute for countries outside of The True North Strong and Free, but for those expats who go through months of poutine drought, Slices offers some great replicas. For those craving a Caesar, Slices can also help you out there as well.

Full-disclosure: I’m a pizza connoisseur. That being said, Slices is not a bad restaurant. It has really fantastic desserts and a variety of milkshakes and bubble teas. And milkshakes are HARD to come by in Japan. On to the Pizza, and this may not win me friends with the foreign community, but Slices is simply not good. I’ve been to Slices many, many times because it’s a convenient, easy place to meet up with friends, equidistant from Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. So, this is not an isolated case, it’s just their recipe. To me(and anyone that knows pizza), there’s two key points: dough and sauce. Anyone can throw cheese and toppings on a pie, and have a tasty treat. Only a pro can make a pizza that makes you grunt and«oooooohhhhhhhhh» with every bite. Slices…is not the later. Slices dough is not that bad, but their sauce, to this American is not acceptable. There is no spice, no tang, no kick. It’s like someone just poured plain tomato paste/sauce all over the dough. This results in a pizza whose only flavor is the toppings. And for 5 bucks a slice… It’s all regret for me. To be fair, everything else I’ve had at Slices has been A-Ok. But… I gotta be harsh, because the name of the place is «Slices», and with that being the case, you gotta come with your A-game on your restaurant’s namesake. Sorry. Quaint place, people are generally friendly, but I wouldn’t say over the top, like other reviewers. Maybe it’s the Canadian side coming out. I kid, I kid, my Canadian friends! Try Slices out, but know that you can get a better«Slice» at Costco.

Best western style pizza in Osaka. A friendly an welcoming atmosphere for even new customers. There are often special dishes as well as special events. Recently, Slices celebrated Canada Day with a variety of dishes such as a maple glazed bacon burger! For fantastic food that reminds you of Canada and the states check out Slices!
