I went here to take part in a volunteer activity for a charity event of the Great East Japan Earthquake. I was very shocked and depressed after I watched and read the news of the great earthquake on TV and in newspaper. I couldn’t rush to Tohoku to do volunteer activity for family reason, but I desired to do something for the disaster area. This building has a vast hall. In the hall a lot of events such as charity bazaar, food or souvenir corner and performances were held. I assisted the kids corner called Kaekko Bazzar. Kaekko literally means exchange. A child brings a toy which he or she doesn’t use anymore. In turn he or she exchanges the old one for another one that other children brought here. This bazaar starts in the idea that one person’s unnecessity may become other person’s necessity. A lot of children seemed to be very glad to find a new treasure. By the way the hall boasts the space of 5000 square meters. And various events for recruitment, exhibition or business meeting are usually held here. I walked here from Tenmabashi station. It took 15 minutes or so on foot. It is between Sakaisujihonmachi and Tanimachi 4chome in subway lines. You can walk there from both subway and Keihan lines.
