Wow! Best steak we have EVER eaten. It makes Bern’s Steakhouse look like a JV squad(if you’re from Tampa – you know Bern’s – if not – sorry – for you New Yorkers it’s the equivalent of Peter Lugers). People aren’t fabricating when they say the matsuzaka beef is like butter in your mouth. It truly is! We ordered the medium priced set at 5800¥ per person. I ordered a cocktail and my husband got an Asahi. The set came with a salad(delicious sesame dressing), a trio of appetizers(potato & pumpkin, roasted chicken & tofu, & chicken teriyaki), along with a seared beef and cabbage appetizer, beef sushi(it’s seared people, calm down), entrée of 5 types of beef, and lemon sherbet for dessert. All in it came to 14600¥ which was well worth it! Hands down best meal we have ever had. They only have 7 tables so I highly recommend you make reservations – we did 3.5 weeks out from our trip to Japan. Enjoy! You won’t be disappointed.

Not a beef or red meat person. However, I figured I’d try some during my day trip in Osaka. This place came up when I searched for beef restaurants on trip advisor and on Unilocal!Welp, recommendations from both did not disappoint! They open at 17:00 for dinner and often ask if you made reservations. However, because I got there around 17:30pm and it was just myself, the chef and one of the waiters let me eat in. The tables have a grill and a curtain. The waiter will come over and explain the menu to you, where each of the parts come from, how to grill the meat, the dipping sauces, type of sake, and their recommendation. It’s a very personal sit down restaurant. Everyone is attentive. The beef pieces have a rich taste, soft texture and literally melts in your mouth. I didn’t think beef could taste this excellent. I would recommend this as an alternative option to Kobe beef!!! I had this first then Kobe beef the next night, Kobe was ok compared to Matsusaka beef.

Saw this as a recommendation from tripadvisor and also on my friends snapchat! I have to start with saying I literally never eat beef. It’s just not my thing but decided to try it out since it’s a highly ranked meat restaurant. We ordered the rib eye cut, chicken thigh, prawns, garlic rice, and assorted vegetables and it was just enough for two people. Bill came out to 79000 yen which is really freaking cheap. Highly recommend to check out in Osaka or if there’s another chain somewhere. The meat literally melts in your mouth like butter. I’m sad this kind of meat won’t be as easily accessible and as cheap in the US :(. The garlic rice was also delicious! Get that as well :). Don’t recommend the IPA — it has a weird after taste.

Ever wanted to try Japanese beef? This is the place to go, they have all types, Kobe isn’t the only Japanese beef in town, beef from the surrounding regions are also just as good if not better! Here you can try different cuts of beef from different regions and grill them as you like. It’s like saying Napa Valley has the best wine, the surrounding counties also produce some of the best wine around as well. This is a Yakiniku(grilled beef) restaurant so the rooms are set around a grill, you order raw cuts of beef and you grill them as you like. We ordered 3 different kinds lean and fatty beef as well as rib eye. It came with 2 types of dipping sauces and salt. The yakiniku dipping sauce was very tasty and flavorful but i liked just the salt the best, it allowed you to taste the meat more and brought out the flavor rather than mask it with the sauce. It was good to try all 3 different cuts from lean to fatty, but I’d say just skip the lean, the fatty cut was very Verry good and the rib eye was the best peace of meat I’ve ever had! So be sure to eat them in order of fattiness. They even give you a piece of beef fat to oil the grill down so you get the maximum beef taste! Now thats how you know they are serious about beef! Meat, best ever! Service was great, just know that its asian style so flag them down when you need something or they will leave you alone and not bother you. Reservations highly recommended, i wouldn’t take my chances without one.

Most people know what Kobe beef is. It is still depicted as the holy grail of beef by the mainstream media. Guess what, they are full of crap(as always). Enter Matsusaka beef. The one that makes Kobe beef a run for its money. Eating Matsusaka beef is an experience in itself, and I will be doing an injustice by just describing it. You have to experience and taste it first hand to understand its greatness. Matsusakagyu(M) has different branches. This one is strictly for yakiniku, and there’s also an M for shabushabu and sukiyaki. Make a reservation so that you won’t be turned away. The level of service that our party received was superb. Thanks to one of their managers, Kuni. In closing, I know taste is subjective. But I’ll throw that saying away if we’re talking about Matsusaka beef.

Cuisine: 10 Service: 8 Décor: 7 Value: 10 Overall: 9 «I died and gone to heaven» was the reoccurring thought running through my head as I tasted Matsusaka Wagyu for the first time. Wow! Kobe, Ohmi, Miyazaki, along with other top quality beef in Japan are all great, but I’m quite certain this was the best of the best I ever had. We were lucky enough to meet up with our good friend Paola, who happened to be in Osaka for a business trip. That gave us the ability to try more items from the menu, which offered 12 Matsusaka options ranging from lean to fatty. We tried ordering all 12 cuts, unfortunately only 7 different cuts(roughly 3 oz each) were available. When they arrived on a silver platter perfectly marbled, I knew we were staring at a meal of a lifetime. As we grilled each cut, we agreed to grade them and put individual name tags(check out my photo) on left for good and right for excellent. Notice there was no expectation for an ok or bad category? Well, the results were 6 – 1 in favor of excellent. We just had such a hard time calling any cut simply good since every piece of moo was so phenomenal. With that said, do not skip out on the absolutely fantastic thick cut beef tongue, which was not Matsusaka, but definitely a highlight of the evening. Instead of the buttery texture of all the Matsusaka beef, the beef tongue definitely had a more chewier texture, but that’s a good thing if you’re like me. Also, the flavor explosion from this somewhat unusual cut for Americans is out of this world. Another outstanding item was the side of garlic rice, which paired magically with the melt in your mouth grilled beef. As for service and décor, honestly I could care less. If they were 1s and 2s, I still would come here for their delicious red meat. Besides, our meal averaged $ 70 per person and we ate a lot. I think this was a tremendous deal because it would have been easily $ 150 in Tokyo and $ 300 in NYC. Therefore, for the quality, I believe this restaurant represents what I consider the highest level of value. In conclusion, if you are looking to taste the best beef in all of Japan, keep looking cause I haven’t tried everything yet. On the other hand, if this is your first visit to Japan and you’re choosing amongst the hundreds of restaurants for an opportunity to savor one of the three most famous Wagyu, then I can guarantee Matsusaka Yakiniku M will deliver that experience in spades.
