My favorite ramen that I had in Japan! This was the first meal in Japan, and I am so glad it was. We waited maybe 15 – 20 minutes and got seated at a cozy table. While we waited, they gave us a menu in English, so that’s great! Once you’re seated, they bring you water and a pitcher — I think it was flavored water, but I don’t 100% remember. Ippudo is what ramen should be. It’s just so… perfect. The broth came nice and hot. It was flavorful, rich, and I almost drank all of it. The skinny noodles were also cooked perfectly! It’s so unfortunate that the only Ippudo in the U.S. is in NY…

While in Osaka I had to find and Ippudo. I have been to the branch in NYC but wanted to see if it was the same in Japan. I had the same dish I had ordered in the US and it was just as delicious, if not more so. While their ramen is different than the typical style of ramen, it is so good. The broth was rich and flavorful. We did have some problems finding the restaurant and must have asked 4 people for help. Only when we had someone write the name down in Chinese did we realize that we had walked in a big circle and had come upon it 15 minutes prior! My advice, if you do not read Japanese — download a picture of the sign and/or outside of the restaurant and use it as reference. There is no sign in English stating«Ippudo», as there is in the US. The restaurant is small and has a similarly themed décor as other locations. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

Ippudo Osaka(right next to Namba main train station where everything goes through in Osaka) — if you’ve been to NYC, you’ve had(read: or should have) America’s top rated Ramen(4 stars, 8k reviews). The Osaka, Japan(one of the original) location doesn’t disappoint w the same most popular bowl: Akamaru Modern tonkatsu w modern blends of umami miso, garlic, mushrooms and sesame. My personal fav in New York is the Karaka Men, a creamy and spicy ramen that is, in my opinion of 200+ ramen restaurants, the best in the world. Also tried the classic Hakata Ramen which is simple, light and perfect for a cold day, but lacks the punch and flavor. No pork belly buns here though, darn. Lines aren’t too bad, always about 5 people waiting it seems, which moves fast.

Connected to the Ippudo we all know in the states located in NYC, this place DIDNOTFAIL. We were so lucky to find it unexpectedly. It’s located not far from the Osaka Station. They give you 3 pieces of pork belly, like all ramen shops should! The ramen was GREAT and despite its large size, I HADTOFINISHITALL! Could not let any of this go to waste… was true of many food options in Japan haha. Not much more you need to know, GOTRYTHISPLACEOUT. It is one of few restaurants that give out African Rooibas tea as default to all customers. Great touch and different from the afternoon/darjeeling/other teas you would normally get.

I kept seeing a long line here and so out of curiosity friends and I decided to give it a try. It was good. I guess w can understand why people lined up for it but for me, it’s not worth the wait. Ippuodo seems to have branches outside of Japan so I guess it’s famous to foreigners also. So I guess that is the reason why there are always foreigners in line and the good English menu. Again it’s good but there better Ramen shop nearby too.

If you are staying in this area, GO. You will not be disappointed. We came here in August and had the charsu pork ramen. Soup was rich and flavorful. I wish I could have slurped up some more.

2 years in a row, Ippudo has been my first choice for ramen when arriving in Osaka. I stay at the Osaka Hilton and Ippudo is a short walk from there. What can I say? It’s one of the best ramen found in Japan. I have been to the original Fukuoka shop and it was great. The Osaka location is one of the best Ippudo around. The wait can be long but it’s worth it. The free side dishes are great. The garlic/press, the medicinal tea all add up to one of the best ramen I have ever tasted. The broth is delicious… the noodles perfect. When I am at Ippudo, I don’t have to add anything to the ramen… it is that good. It is amazingly good. I have not tasted anything like this in the US.

I’ve been the Ippudo in NYC, but I heard that Ippudo is actually a global chain and that it originated in Fukuoka. Well, lucky for us, there was a location open in Osaka as well. And yes, as expected, the ramen here was MUCH better than the branch in NYC. It was a great experience. I’d say that Hakata Ippudo is probably one of the best ramen shops in Osaka, and definitely better than the popular chains like Shi-ten-oh and Kinryu Ramen.
