This is a fantastic Tonkatsu restaurant. Basically. Everything is fried. However, it is not super oily as you think. It is delicious not low calories, it is fried food after all. The thing that gets me is that their tartar sauce actually has cooked egg white inside so it is really serious tartar sauce… Another surprise is their fried shrimp and oyster tastes even better than their black haired pig pork fillets.

Walking around Osaka on my first day I completely lost track of time and where I was. I was hungry and wanted to eat Kobe beef, however, that wasn’t in the cards. Fortunately, I found Tonkatsu Ganko. The restaurant looks rather small from the inside, but I think there is a back room or upstairs if I can recall. I was seated promptly and placed my belongings in the box next to my table. I ordered the tonkatsu special. As a tonkatsu snob, I had little expectations for this random place. My order came out within 15 minutes and it looked delicious. The tonkatsu was breaded and crispy brown on the outside. My hunger took a hold of me as I forgot to crush the sesame seeds into a fine powder and I poured the tonkatsu sauce into the bowl. So shameful!!! The server saw what I did and came to assist. Bless her heart. I cut the tonkatsu slowly allowing the temperature to be just right as I dipped it into the sauce and slowly bit on the morsel. Actually, I devoured it. Hahaha. It was that good. I was done with the plate within 15 minutes. I’m not sure if it was bad manners to do that, but, I was hungry. Also, it’s rather inexpensive too. A plus in my book. Parking…what parking? Everyone metros or bikes. The service here was great. Especially catering to a gaijin like me.
