Ichien is a solid ramen shop. They have a great bowl of ramen, that I would go back to again. That being said, I don’t know it is the most mind blowing ramen you can get either. In kichijoji alone, there a ton of great places to go that are just as good or maybe better. That being said, you can’t go wrong eating in this little shop. I love that it is a bit outside the main part of the city and you get all kinds of people eating there. People who have traveled far to eat there, local grandmas, young couples, and hungry middle aged men. When I see this kind of eclectic demographic, I know it is a good place. Another thing about ichien to note is that many people go to ichien to eat there jumbo gyouza! It is pretty damn good and worth a try. They have a nice thick skin with a yummy mixture for the inside. Just be aware that they take almost 25min to cook, and they cook them to order. Definitely peep this spot if you have a chance!

If you like eating gyozas you have to come to Ichien and if you like to try some gigantic juicy gyozas, you definitely have to come here. This gyoza joint is located on the Nakamachi Shopping Street in Kichijoji. The place is very compact with seating for only 10 to 12 people if I remember correctly and they only have counter seating. They serve ramen too but I only go there to eat their gyozas. You can tell that the cooks take pride in what they serve and their expertise level is second to none. They take their time to prepare you a plate of perfectly pan fried gyozas. It takes about 10 minutes to make the gyozas so please be patient. You can order two types of gyozas — regular and platinum(better quality of pork meat). The platinum ones are not as big as the regular ones. They both come with 5 on a plate but for the taste I couldn’t tell the difference between them. The gyozas are filled with juicy pork and vegetables and skins are nice and crispy. Also, if I remember correctly, the regular ones are ¥450 for 5 and the platinum ones are ¥600. This place is sure to satisfy your appetite for gyoza. Getting there is easy, only a 5 minute walk from the train station. Get off at the JR Kichijoji Station, exit the North Exit, turn left and walk to the intersection of Kichijoji Dori, cross the intersection and you will see a narrow street in front of you with the Nakamachi Shopping Street gate sign. Go down this narrow street and the place is at the 4th intersection in.
