During our trip to Toyko, my legs were paralyzed by bug bites, preventing me from walking. Luckily according to Tablelog, Uratsubaki was only 0.1 miles from the place I was staying in Roppongi Hills. They were one of few restaurants to have an English menu and accept U.S. credit cards. It was my favorite meal from my Tokyo trip. Uratsubaki is a cute authentic Japanese restaurant with bar seating and private dining room in the back. The only complaint is that I asked for non-smoking seating and I was placed next to a smoking individual. While waiting for a colleague, I ordered a hot Oolong Tea. It was nice they offered each of us an amuse of the day. I got wild mushrooms in dashi broth(mixed with some vegetables and sprinkled with sesame seeds) while my friend Hiroki got the steamed egg(garnished with scallions). We shared the following items: (1) Broiled Mackerel, which was pre-sliced, served over a banana leaf, and torched in front of you (2) Cooked Pumpkin, which consisted of two large kabocha wedges(with skin on) marinated in a blend of dashi stock and soy sauce, served with chicken wings and lotus slice. (3) Potato Salad, which was shaped like a tower, topped with parmesan cheese, scallion, and potato crisps. (4) Steak of the Diaphragm of Cattle — marinated in a housemade chimichurri sauce, grilled on charcoal grill, and priced by the ounce. (5) Chicken with Avocado and Parmesan — you literally got what you ordered except unexpected salt and pepper (6) Vanilla Ice Cream — one topped with gingerbread crumbles and fried apples(Pomme /Gingerbre /Conficture) and syrup glaze and another with amaretto infused raisin glaze(Amaretto /Raisin)
