We walked by this place and saw it was packed full of people drinking beer and eating skewers. The smell from the grill inside was amazing, and we were lucky to get two seats at the counter. It’s a small space, but they have some low tables near the entrance for groups of maybe around 6 people. Luckily, the guy washing dishes spoke some English and helped us out. Otherwise, the whole menu was on the wall but only in Japanese. We got: — Steamed clams: the broth was a bit salty but really good(I guess you’re not supposed to drink it like we did). The clams were small and tender, and none were closed — Innard stew: we saw a big pot of this boiling, and lots of people got it. It smelled amazing, but it turns out it was filled with various pork innards. The flavor of the stew was really good, and the mustard helped(it’s strong and goes up your nose) — Chicken skin: nice char — Chicken breast and thigh with scallion: tender — Garlic: yes, large cloves of garlic, which ended up being super sweet — Shiitake mushrooms: with extra butter on the side — Shisito peppers: not too spicy(depends on your luck) — our only«greens» for the day The Asahi beer, the smokiness of the place(from the grill and cigarettes), plus all the buzzed/drunk people really made it feel like a place for locals, so we’re glad we found it. Cash only.
