You can head to a department store, but finding an one of a kind item is difficult. Tokyu Hands or LOFT? Boring. Everyone knows about those places.
My suggestion:
Head to Living Motif.
This is one of the coolest and neatest store in Tokyo.
It is like a select shop filled with the most interesting items from around the world. They even have cool Made In Japan items.
WARNING: Most of the items in the shop is expensive. Pricey, but not out of reach crazy expensive. What do you expect? These are not your ordinary made in «fill in the blank» low labor cost country items. Most items are innovative designs. Many items are hand made. Of course there are mass produced items as well, but these are really cool items.
VALUE ADDED: The service they provide is selecting the coolest items and putting them under one roof. Isn’t that worth something? For example, I was really impressed that they had wallets from Postalco. This is a one of a kind specialty shop in Shibuya. Until now, I thought that I had to go to their Shibuya shop to buy their goods. Nope, you can buy them in Roppongi at Living Motif.
LOCATION: It is a bit of a hike from Roppongi Station. It is near Ikura-​Katamachi intersection. The shop is on first and second floor. The space is big, so you can call this a destination shop. You can easily spend an hour looking at their stuff.
