I have been to JG in NYC(3***) maybe 3 years ago so I am going to compare this Tokyo 1 star one with the original 3*** in NYC — no amuse bouche — Service here is great. totally up to par with, if not better than, the 3 star establishment in NYC — I like open kitchen style of the Tokyo one better. — portion is significantly smaller(good for me I was super full after my second course in NYC) — the NYC dishes were too salty, but some of the dishes here were also too bland — Bread here is very mediocre… probablg the worst among michelin-starred french restaurants i hv been to so far — Price: 4-course prefixe at 4,800 yen vs $ 50 for 3-course in NYC Verdict: Tokyo wins!

We came to JG Tokyo just for some drinks. I wasn’t sure if we would need a reservation but we decided to just show up around 10pm. I wanted to sit upstairs but they wouldn’t let us go there just for drinks so we sat downstairs at the sort of bar area. The drinks are around 2000 yen for cocktails. I tried the lycée raspberry Bellini and it was yummy. They took a long time with many meticulous steps to create this perfect cocktail. The atmosphere is nice but smaller than other JG restaurants in the world. The toilet is quite exciting and is hidden away with a secret door. Once entered, the toilet seat goes up automatically! Everything is automatic and crazy. Hope to try the kaiseki here sometime!
