Id seen a lady with a D& D Tokyo bag earlier in the week which surprised me. Ive been to the NY and St Helena outposts in the past but didnt realize they had presence here. As we were leaving the Suntory Art Museum we decided we needed to get some caffeination before things closed so we slipped in here with 10 min to space. Strange to get American style iced tea. Id been enjoying a plethora of oolong and green tea in the city so it was good to change it up. Much smaller than im used to in the states but still chock full of goodies to maximize their space

A place to get a taste of America — at a premium. If you are reading this review in English, you likely know about Dean and Deluca, therefore I won’t get into the detailed description of the store. For me, my burning image of Dean and Deluca is the one I frequented in Napa Valley. I purchased a sandwich there between my stops at vineyards. The scenery of the store was close to heaven. I wouldn’t call Tokyo Midtown heaven. However, the store is quite useful. Here are the reasons. Wine: it’s surprisingly hard to find a store with a good selection of Napa Valley wine in Japan. Here and Nissin are two of my favorite places for American wine. The price is close to double. $ 50 wine is about ¥10,000. Oh well. Coffee break: My favorite coffee break at Tokyo Midtown is a cop of Clover reserved coffee at Starbucks. However, you have to go outside in order to get there. On a hot day or cold day or rainy day, its much more convenient to pick up a cup at D&D. During the winter, they have nice apple ciders. Casual lunch or dinner: They offer a nice deli plate, which is a nice healthy lunch. Store has eating space(tables and chair for about 20 people). Better yet, this place is under appreciated for dinner. YES, they serve alcohol here. During the summer, they had special craft beer fairs. Tomo’s TIP: Be careful of the pastries. It looks really nice, but too frequently, the pastry was stale. It tasted as if it say there for hours. If you want pastries, I recommend going next door to Maison Kayser.

It’s kind of my kitchen when I visit Tokyo since my second home is located in Tokyo Midtown. They have variety of delicatessen in daily, so you never get bored even if you went there to get some deli everyday. The portion is sufficient for me though I guess men’s stomach can’t get satisfaction by the modest quantity. Furthermore it might be a little strong taste… like say a little bit salty??? but it’s acceptable. Eating them inside the shop is sort of miserable and uncomfortable because I hate using plastic cutlery. In addition to this, the size of tables and chairs are just as if for kids. I’m slim and short as Japanese nevertheless the interval between seats are too cramped for comfort. Especially now this season, because people have a bulky jacket. I dare say taking them away would be better if you’re a neighbor.

Visits: 1st Rating: 4* Service: great Dishes: Blended Coffee; Japan’s Strawberry & Caramel pastry Wifey heard about Dean & Delucca through a friend & it came highly recommended(for the coffee). –Blended Coffee(4*), is strong & one of the better ones in Tokyo. Most coffee we have had were too milky & not strong enough. This hits the spot for sure. –Japanese Strawberry & Caramel pastry(4*) Delicious. I liked it more than my wife did. Although it wasn’t crispy like I had hoped but wasn’t sure if it was like that off the counter or due to us carrying it around for a few hours before biting into it(we just had lunch & was full). So giving it the benefit of the doubt. Though it still tasted good.
