A surfer themed café at a hard to find location in Hiroo. Note that my review is ONLY based on their breakfast, which is served MON to FRI9:00 — 15:45 SAT/SUN/HOLIDAYS 9:00 — 10:30 This is one of those love it or hate it type of café/restaurant. WHATTOLOVE: Space. 1. It is a really cool and beautiful décor with lots of Hawaiian themed decorations. 2. The best part are their comfortable sofa seats. I highly recommend that you reserve one of these tables with sofa seating before you head here. On a warm weather day, one of those that faces the open air would be really nice. 3. Pancakes with fresh fruits. I highly recommend that pay the extra Yen to get the fresh fruit. They give you a healthy amount and these are no frozen fruits like some other places. WHATNOTTOLOVE: 1. Price. A bit too expensive for my taste. Egg Benedict was 1100 Yen, and coffee was extra 300 Yen, and small tiny side salad was extra 300 Yen. Total of 1700 Yen for my breakfast. Ouch. 2. Egg Benedict was decent by did not fall in love with it. First, it reached my table cold. Is that normal for egg Benedict? Okay, not a big deal. Dicts do not need to hot. However, I really questioned their choice of beacon. Really?!? I cannot imagine that a chef with decent understanding of egg benedict would choose such cheap beacon, especially when you are charging 1100 Yen(without coffee). Also, these dicts were served on regular French bread, not on English muffins. 3. Although this is a café, their focus is more on smoothies, brunches, and other food items. They are NOT a coffee specialty café. This is not an issue, but you should come here with the correct expectation. VERDICT: I chose to go with 4 Stars because this is a special place. No other place has this kind of atmosphere. The new Aloha Table Natural nearby has a similar Hawaiian beach feel, but this place feels much more authentic. Also, I like the fact that they open at 9AM. I prefer 7AM. Aloha Table opens at 11:30AM.

If you’re busy, you really shouldn’t tell customers that it’s a «30分» wait. We arrived at 12:15, waited for 1 hr 15 min, and then left because my roommate had a hair appointment at 2:30. I don’t mind waiting an hour if I’m told in advance and have the time to wait, but don’t tell your customers 30 min if you know it isn’t true. Two other groups walked off before us so I know we’re not the only ones who were fed up.

Another one of my favorite«atmosphere» spots. Feels like you’ve taken a quick trip down under! The white wood, beachy smells, relaxed vibe and food/beverage offerings makes me feel that I could actually be somewhere in bondi beach. The restaurant is tucked away on a residential backstreet behind hiroo station and you can regularly see foreigners and Japanese just hanging out. Personally, I go here for the atmosphere and smoothies. I’m not a big fan of their food, but I love their green smoothies and acai bowls. Yum! Great spot to have a leisurely brunch or a coffee date.

Love Bondi café! is a laidback Bondi beachside atmosphere restaurant with pet-friendly terrace. So relaxing to stay that you’ll forget it’s only one street back behind Hiroo station. They offer various kinds of exotic and Hawaii food, like locomoco, green curry, etc. I especially recommend their breakfast menu which is served until 4pm, including superb fruit pancake, sandwich, etc. My kids and I enjoy having pancake there after school, chatting and sometimes reading. Very relaxing. Their restroom is roomy and comfortable, my kids and friends sometimes write homework there(shh…). Bondi provides table, counter, terrace, sofa seats which is my favorite. If you like sofa seats like me, better make a reservation. Friendly service too. English menu: yes. And very relaxing place for drinking nightly as well, always makes me feel I’m at somewhere beach bar. I bet you’d love Bondi café too!
