«Doraichi» is well known for its«Tan Tan Men» which is basically spicy noodles without soup. It’s got Miso-flavored, stir-fried ground pork on top, as well as a raw yolk. You are supposed to mix them all up and have it all together. It’s really good and nicely spicy. If you are not good with spicy stuff, they also have very high quality soy-sauce-based Ramen(w/soup) and I think it’s one of the best soy ramens available in Tokyo. The only downside is the location. It takes 7 – 8 minutes from Azabu Juban station and the problem is that there’s nothing else going in that direction. So, you go there just for this place, and after eating it, you simply have to go back the way you come. If Doraichi was a bit closer to the station or was in Roppongi, I’d probably go there 1 – 2 times every week, literally. It’s that good.

We happened upon the restaurant on our last day in Japan. Too bad because it turned out to be our favorite. I’m not sure what we ordered because there was not an English menu. Everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and I wish we had more time to try it all. They were open for lunch on a Saturday as many restaurants in the area are not. If you happen to be staying near the area it is definitely worth dropping in.

This place is near my house and every time I walked by, their sign got me curious — «Brothless tantanmen”(Dandan noodle ). Curiosity finally killed the cat, there I went. This mysterious ramen was consisted of: — Ramen noodle(thick kind) — loads of scallion — spaghetti meat sauce like ground beef mixed with spicy thick sauce which tastes similar to tantanmen soup — raw egg To eat it, pop the raw egg and stir noodle, sauce and scallion very well. If you do it thoroughly(which you want to do so), you can probably build quite a Kung Fu grip. It was quite an exercise. Texture is lot similar to carbonara. Very thick and creamy. But spicy as in tantanmen. And this load of scallion gives good kick. Cause there’s no «too much scallion» in my book so this worked great. This is definitely a repeater.
