The mysterious and infamous Kowloon Walled City gets redone… as a game center?! Oh Japan, you never cease to amuse me. This entertainment center tucked in the heart of Kawasaki near Tokyo functions like any other. Its got all the latest Japanese arcade games, Pachinko and slot machines, and billiards/darts for loungers wanting to take it easy over a nice Kirin. However, upon entering, spectators will see a glimpse of one of Hong Kong’s slimiest histories recreated for your pleasure. The first two floors recreate the feeling of Kowloon’s Walled City. What was once the densest slum in the world was removed shortly after the turnover to the People’s Republic of China, but can now be found in Tokyo. You’ll get to experience walking through dark alleyways, littered with traditional Chinese characters and speakers shouting Cantonese at you. You’ll find a doctor practicing medicine and a prostitute all on one corner, which was how the walled city functioned. This place is quite a spectacle, and I would totally recommend it for anyone that wants to explore a recreation of the famed city, and has time to explore outside of Tokyo. You won’t find this in Hong Kong anymore, so here we have the next best thing. Once you’re done, go upstairs and enjoy some arcade games if you dare. Accessible via Kawasaki Station on the JR lines(about a ten minute walk).
