Hotsugawa Kudari or boat ride down the river is so famous for travelers in Kyoto. The boat drifts in the ravine between the mountains. Most are calm flows, but some are thrilling when the boat passes through the torrent between big rocks somewhere. I was scared as if it clashed with a rock and might overturn. Oh, it is all right because I can swim. But I wonder that no one has put on a life jacket in the body. I was anxious about this. I could enjoy intriguing geologic formations and different scenery, fresh green in spring or colored leaves in autumn at a course of approximately 16 km to link Sagano from Kameoka. The story of a boatman is interesting, too. It seems to be awkward while the boatman is getting older, a successor is not readily found. Unlike amusement of a speedy motorboat in ocean, this traditional slow-paced pastime makes you feel Japanese culture and taste. A carpet is laid out on and a small oil stove is loaded with a boat during winter. A vinyl roof and glass window is installed to keep away from coldness. It is tasteful to see the surrounding snowy scenery on the boat. As for me, I got on the boat in sweaty early summer, refreshing spray from the river, which was so pleasant! P. S. Let’s wave your hands if you see the passengers of the locomotive at the far sight on the way(^0^)
