Unilocal 100 Challenge 2015 — 39⁄100 Can-Do is the competing ¥100 shop to the Daiso chain. Both have stores all over the place and target the same general audience. There are a number of differences between the two as they compete for your coin purse. This particular location is in a multi-storied shopping complex that houses restaurants and the TOHO Cinemas theater chain on the top floors. Can-Do itself is on the 4th floor and strategically located so theater patrons pass by to and from their cinema viewing. Highlights: + Layout: 4⁄5 stars(long and a bit narrow in places; you might have to politely squeeze by someone if they have a backpack on or are carry a large bag(or they have a big butt, ha, ha)) + Selection: 5⁄5(definitely a much larger selection of goods than the D store) + Cleanliness: 5⁄5(very, very clean, plus it’s brightly lit so everything looks nice, plus the displays are very well organized on the shelves so things feel more orderly) + Organization: 5⁄5(almost ANYthing you could want for household sundries, including cleaning supplies, foodstuff, décor, and sections for gardening, school/stationery, toys, smartphone accessories, travel — the list goes on and on!) + Customer Service: 5⁄5(friendly, helpful, effiecient, polite — much higher sense of care than at the other chain) Overall, this might be considered a level higher than the other chain in terms of selection of goods, sheer variety within single product categories, and very good quality products themselves. I always buy more than I bargained for(pun intended) when leaving but they make it easier and more attractive to do so. If you consider the range of experience you could have at shops that sell basically the same goods at the same price, then you start to look at things like ambience, quality and service. This is a great example of how to do it, and it’s well worth a visit. Hint: If you’re going to watch a movie, stock up on snacks here first. Why pay for overpriced concessions?
